| In most cases acne begins when you reach puberty; the body releases hormones such as testosterone (present in both men and women), which in turn stimulate the sebaceous glands in the skin to produce an oily substance called Sebum. Sebum and dead skin cells combine therefore clogging the pores of the skin. When this occurs the natural skin bacteria Propionibacterium acnes (P.acnes) thrives, and the pore becomes inflamed as your bodies natural defences combat the infection – the result is acne. |

Q. What is Omnilux Blue LED Phototherapy, and how does it work?

| Omnilux Blue LED Phototherapy is a light source that emits light at a particular wavelength. This light, made up of Light Emitting Diodes, or LED’s, is specifically tuned to activate the porypyrins that naturally occur in the acne causing bacteria P.acnes, destroying the bacteria while simultaneously stimulating the cells in your body that assist in the healing process.

Omnilux Blue LED Phototherapy is pain free as the blue light does not produce heat, as in laser treatments, and will not damage the skin.

Q. Is there any preparation before treatments?
|

When coming in for your treatment sessions, it is important that your skin should be clean and any makeup or sunscreen is removed prior to commencing Omnilux Blue LED phototherapy. This will aid in the ability of the light to penetrate to the P.acnes beneath, providing you with a better result, more quickly.

Q. How effective is Omnilux Blue light against acne?

Results vary with some subjects seeing a complete clearance of the lesions; although on average patients should expect a 73% clearance of lesions, with optimum results in about 4-8 weeks from the completion of the treatments.

Q. What about my acne scarring?
