Q. What is Intense Pulse Light and how does it work?
|

Intense Pulse Light or IPL works by penetrating the epidermis, or top layer of the skin with a specific wavelength of light that targets the dermis underneath where melanin, haemoglobin, and collagen reside. By leaving the surface layer of the skin undamaged the recovery, or down time, associated with traditional laser treatments is greatly reduced.

Q. What’s involved in a Photo rejuvenation treatment?

| Your Image by Laser consultant will ascertain the optimum level of exposure for your skin type and skin concerns. A layer of cold gel will be applied to the skin and the treatment head then delivers pulses of light onto the skin. After the desired reaction is obtained the gel will be removed and the skin cleaned, followed by sun protection.

Q. What will my skin look like straight after a treatment with IPL?

Photo rejuvenation therapy will result in some temporary redness and inflammation of the skin. People with pigmentation or sun damage may notice some slightly darkened pigment as it moves forward in the skin. With the epidermis undamaged, you can apply make-up to the treated area directly after Photo rejuvenation therapy.

Q. Is there any after care instructions?
|

| After undergoing Photo rejuvenation therapy keep the treated area cool and clean, minimise your exposure to the sun, wear spf 30+ total sun block and avoid the use of abrasive cleaning measures such as loofahs and scrubs. Your Image by Laser consultant will be available to offer any ongoing advice, and instruction should you have any queries. A detailed information sheet will be given at the treatment time.
